This car was RARE when it was built in 1968 and it is much rarer 45 years later. Finding one with the original documentation like this one is almost impossible.

Options make a difference in the “value” of these cars

The fastback when equipped with the S-code 390 big block and then coupled with the GT package becomes one of the most sought after and most valuable of the vintage Mustangs.  Any options above and beyond the S-code & GT combo add to the desirability and value …. this baby has some great options.

Beautiful “Candy Apple Red”

The paint is slick with that high gloss, deep wet look. There are a few minor flaws, the type that you might see on any “show/driver”, however, these flaws in no way detract from the overall excellent presentation – see above photos of most notable flaws.

When restored the color was changed from Meadowlark Yellow to “Candy Apple Red” which is a factory color for the 68 Mustang. The restoration was done 22 years ago however the car has been garaged and only driven on fair weather days for less than 3,500 miles. I would consider it excellent driver quality and worthy of local shows.

Fastest appreciating vintage Mustang.

This is NOT your typical eBay Mustang … this is a very special fastback, the type that is sought after & coveted “worldwide”. The “1968 390 GT fastbacks” rarely come up for sale in this condition with these options. If you have been waiting for a super original driver with killer options and strong visual appeal, you will love this car.

The price is $55,000 (this price includes spot repairs to noted flaws) or make your best offer for an “as is” price and I will consider it… we have yet to market this car other than listing it on our site. Engine Bay & Mechanical

The engine bay is well detailed and shows very well. It has that factory correct STOCK LOOK and includes the hard to find correct Air Cleaner and Valve Covers. The entire engine bay is “super original with most, if not all of its factory installed mechanical components. This is VERY hard to find in the S-code cars.

It starts immediately, runs very smooth and pulls STRONG through all four gears. It has very good power, but it is NOT overbuilt. It has a factory stock look and feel. It has no bad habits, does NOT run hot and it idles beautifully.


The undercarriage was repaired as needed with any rust being cut out and replaced with new metal.


The interior is simply stunning. The steering wheel, dash, instrument cluster, door panels, seats, headliner, etc, are ALL in very nice condition and do NOT evidence any wear.

Tires & Wheels

The wheels are the original type “optional” 14” Style Steel wheels with the correct trim rings and center caps. The tires are BF Goodrich T/A radials and appear to have 90% of more tread remaining.

Addition of Air Conditioning ????

If you require Air Conditioning, I can have this added for an additional $3,000. I have done this for a number of my buyers and will be happy to do it for you as well. This change will have to be paid for in ADVANCE and there will be a two week time delay associated with the deliverability of the car.
